FEATURES AND BENEFITS:
Compared to other powder mixers, the PerMix PFB series twin shaft paddle mixers have the following features:
1. Very fast mixing providing typical mixing times from 10 seconds to just 1 minute
2. Free movement of particles
3. Minimal heat and low shear generated for shear and heat sensitive materials (Due to the fact that low friction without shear is generated in this weightless zone, making the PerMix PFB series twin shaft paddle mixer the ideal machine for delicate products that do not tolerate rough handling, even flakes or spray dried materials remaining intact after mixing.)
4. Easy to clean and hygienic design.
5. Low maintenance costs
6. Big bomb bay chamber door for fast unloading and reduced segregation
7. Adding liquids using spray nozzles.
8. Blades can be coated with tungsten carbide for very abrasive materials.
9. Intensive clod-busting choppers
10. Various drive systems (single engine/gearbox with chain; dual engine/gearbox, single engine with dual gearbox)
PRINCIPLE OF OPERATION:
The PerMix PFB series twin shaft paddle mixer consists of specially angled paddles mounted on two shafts in a W-shaped chamber. During operation, the shafts rotate in the opposite direction.
The blades sweep the entire bottom of both “chutes” of the chamber, and the materials float between the two shafts (as a zero gravity zone) thanks to the centrifugal force generated by the blades.
In this zero gravity zone, mixing materials of different densities is easy and fast because the material particles can move freely and randomly, regardless of particle size and density. This ensures fast and very uniform mixing.
UPPER CHOPER:
Although the PerMix PFB series twin shaft paddle mixer excels at gentle mixing in the zero gravity zone, it can also achieve less gentle mixing thanks to the additional pins mounted on the top of the paddles.
The pins are two rapidly rotating rods with pins and a stationary cover that apply high shear force to materials during mixing to break up soft lumps and agglomerates. In this case, the 140% Normal Capacity fill level is required.
UNLOADING DOOR:
PerMix offers pneumatic relief valves for the PFB twin shaft paddle mixer, which allow for quick discharge while the mixers are running, eliminating any potential segregation. Each valve is located at the bottom of each W-shaped trough pan.
PerMix also supplies a large Bomb Bay Door for even faster and more complete discharge (see photo above); discharge time can be reduced to less than one minute (depending on product and mixer size) when used.
DRIVE SYSTEM:
PerMix can supply both a Single Chain Drive system (with one gearbox and the two overlapping shafts are synchronised by a heavy chain with a chain tensioner) and a Dual Direct Drive system where there are two gearboxes to connect the two shafts (tangential).
